Resource Description

This 1 Hour and 1-minute webinar presented by Primary Health Tasmania on Tasmania’s Mental Health Act.

Tasmania’s Mental Health Act establishes a substitute decision making framework for people with mental illness who because of their illness cannot make their own health decisions.

This session provided attendees with an understanding of the definition of ‘capacity’ in the Mental Health Act and the types of restraint used in restrictive practices under the Act. This session also provided an opportunity to discuss proposed changes to the Mental Health Act and how they relate to primary care. Dr Anthony Cidoni, Acting Chief Psychiatrist, Department of Health Tasmania delivered this session for general practitioners and practice nurses.
