This 1 hour and 13-minute webinar by Primary Health Tasmania is on a vision for contemporary cardiac rehabilitation.

"A vision for contemporary cardiac rehabilitation" is the first in a six-part webinar series "cardiology at the interface of primary and secondary care" that explores the interface between primary and secondary care in the management of cardiac patients

This 90 minute interactive webinar will discuss the current provision of cardiac rehabilitation in Tasmania with an exploration of a more contemporary approach to improve the secondary prevention of patients with cardiovascular disease.

Speaker information:

Dr Paul MacIntyre has clinical interests in general cardiology, pacemakers, heart , device therapy and cardiac rehabilitation. He graduated from Glasgow University, Scotland in 1987. He completed specialist training in Glasgow and was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in 1996.  In 2007 he received a merit award for achievements in Cardiology in Scotland and his broader contribution to the NHS.  In 2005 he was appointed to the position of Lead Clinician for Coronary Heart Disease in Scotland and Chair of the National Advisory Committee to the Scottish Government.  In this role he worked the Scottish Government on service development, strategy and policy in relation to Cardiology.  He moved to Hobart in 2011. He was Director of Cardiology at the Royal Hobart Hospital from 2012 to 2020. He was instrumental in the development of clinical services. He is the Medical Director of the Acute Medical Services Stream and a member of the RHH Executive Committee

Dr Anna Seth, Dr Anna Seth is a GP with a mental health interest, originally from the UK. She graduated from Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2003, completed RACGP fellowship in 2010 in Far North Queensland, and has worked in Tasmania since 2011, initially in the Huon Valley then Kingston and now in North Hobart. Anna has worked for Primary Health Tasmania since 2021 as a clinical editor for HealthPathways and as clinical trainer for the IAR (initial assessment and referral project).   

Rebecca Smith, Rebecca is a Senior Physiotherapist at the LGH and splits her time between the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Lung Boosters programs. She has previously worked within the hospital's acute physiotherapy stream including servicing the Northern Coronary Care Unit. She worked to develop the Physiotherapy Pre-Operative Assessment pathway for admitted patients awaiting major cardiac surgery at the LGH. Rebecca is passionate about enabling access to chronic disease care for all Tasmanians including support to improve self management skills and physical activity participation.
