The discussion aims to equip health professionals with practical insights and strategies to improve patient outcomes and quality of care in breast health management.

Speaker Information:
Dr Gausihi Sivarajah is a General Surgeon (Staff Specialist) working at the Royal Hobart Hospital and is the Clinical Director of BreastScreen Tasmania. She graduated from Monash University in 2008 and worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and University Hospital Geelong to obtain her Fellowship in General Surgery (FRACS) in 2017. Following this, she spent two years in Queensland undertaking Oncoplastic Breast and Endocrine Surgical Fellowships and did a two-year fellowship at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London in Skin and Soft Tissue Surgical Oncology. During her years of fellowship, she completed a Master of Surgery (Breast Surgery) at the University of Sydney, and a Master of Science in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is currently undertaking a Master of Surgical Education through Imperial College London. In keeping with her interests in global surgery and surgical education, she has been dedicated to teaching general surgical trainees in Australia, Fiji and Timor-Leste.
Dr Virginia “Ginny” Baird is a GP with a specific interest in women’s health, particularly breast medicine and the perimenopause/menopause. In this capacity she works at North Hobart Surgical, and has previously worked for Family Planning Tasmania for 7 years. She is training as a Breast Physician while she is employed as a GPSI in the Breast Clinic at the Royal Hobart Hospital, and with BreastScreen Tasmania. She also works as a surgical assistant for breast surgeons Dr Mills and Dr Sivarajah, and as a tutor in women’s health at the University of Tasmania. Ginny graduated from the University of Sydney in 2006 with a MBBS, having previously obtained a BMedSci (Hons) from the University of Sydney in 1994, and a PhD in Neuropharmacology from the University of Birmingham, UK, in 1999. She achieved her FRACGP in 2016. Ginny has completed a FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health. She is a member of the Australasian Menopause Society, the Australasian Society for Breast Disease, and an associate member of the Australasian Society for Breast Physicians.
