This 1 hour and 26-minute webinar is the second in a series of three webinar talking about deprescribing.

Primary Health Tasmania, along with Consultant Pharmacy Services, have recently updated a series of deprescribing guidelines for commonly used medicines. The aim of the guidelines is to reduce the potential for inappropriate use of medication, minimise polypharmacy and improve overall patient outcomes. You can access the guidelines here.

GPs and allied health professionals are invited to attend a series of webinars in which a panel of healthcare professionals will speak to a case study and their approach to deprescribing in their field of discipline.

Antipsychotic medications are commonly used for the management of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. This webianr was a case study panel discussion examining the use of antipsychotics in patients with dementia. The panel members include Associate Professor Juanita Breen (Pharmacist, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission), Dr Graeme Bleach (GP – The Lindisfarne Clinic) and Dr Alison Cleary (Geriatrician – The Hobart Clinic & The ISLAND Clinic).
