What is a vision?

A vision is an aspirational statement that describes an organisation’s goals for the future and the impact it aims to make on the world.

A vision serves as the organisation’s “North Star”, motivating its people and guiding the organisation as it operates.

Examples of visions:

  • IKEA: To create a better everyday life for the many people.
  • Google: To significantly improve the lives of as many people as possible
  • Australasian Institute of Clinical Governance: Safe and quality care through excellence in clinical governance
  • Primary Health Tasmania: Healthy Tasmanians
  • St. Lukes Health: to become the healthiest island on the planet.

A vision is not where you are now, but where you wish to be in the future - this is used to help inform your direction and next steps.
